For many individuals, it can be the first time attending a spiritual and wellness event. More times than none you may be the only one in your friendship group that is open to these kinds of events, meaning you have to go alone. If you have felt like you are stepping into the unknown, you are certainly not the first to feel that way. You might wonder what the atmosphere will be like, what activities will take place, or if you’ll feel pressured to participate in ways that don’t suit you. We've put together this guide to help you understand what actually happens at these events, what you don’t need to worry about, the types of experiences you might encounter, and how people usually feel afterward.

What Happens at a Spiritual and Wellness Event

When you arrive you will always be greeted by a friendly member of staff - at Events From Within we always ensure that our volunteers are trained to support any questions you have.

We make our spaces as calm and inviting as possible, with gentle music to help you feel relaxed, soft lighting and calming essential oils. The goal is to create a relaxed environment where everyone feels safe and welcome. More often than none, people will be attending on their own and we encourage you to talk to anyone sat beside you and discuss the journey you are about to embark on.

The event often begins with a brief introduction from the host or facilitator. They explain what the session will involve and encourage everyone to participate at their own comfort level. This introduction sets a tone of openness and respect, making it clear there is no pressure to do anything you’re not comfortable with. At Events From Within - we always tell our attendees to take what resonates, there is no pressure to absorb all the information you are given.

Throughout the event, the flow tends to move gently between different activities. These might include:

  • Guided talks or discussions about themes like mindfulness, self-care, or personal growth. These talks are usually informal and easy to follow.

  • Breath-focused practices that help calm the mind and body. These are simple breathing exercises designed to help you relax and feel present, without using clinical terms.

  • Sound experiences such as listening to calming music, gentle chimes, or singing bowls. These sounds support relaxation and help create a peaceful atmosphere.

  • Movement sessions that might involve gentle stretching, slow yoga, or mindful walking. These activities encourage you to connect with your body in a non-judgmental way.

The event usually ends with a quiet moment for reflection or sharing, allowing participants to absorb the experience and connect with others if they wish.

What You Don’t Need to Worry About

One of the biggest concerns for newcomers is feeling pressured to perform or meet expectations. At these events, there is no right or wrong way to participate. You can listen quietly, join in fully, or simply observe. The focus is on your comfort and well-being.

You don’t need any prior experience or special skills. The activities are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or fitness level. If you feel unsure about something, facilitators are usually happy to offer gentle guidance or alternatives.

There’s no need to worry about being judged. These spaces are built on respect and acceptance. Everyone is there to support their own journey, and that means supporting yours too.

Remember - you can come out of any experience at any time by simply opening your eyes. You control your conciousness.

Types of Experiences You Might Encounter

Each event is unique, but here are some common experiences you might find:

  • Speaker Keynotes: These sessions are guided by our well-known speakers that will talk you through their presentations offering information that relates to their spiritual topics they discuss with the audience.

  • Guided Meditation: Your speakers or practioners will act as a guide, you can choose whether you take part or simply observe if you are not yet ready to experience this. You will feel relaxed and may even experience colours, new thoughts and positive emotions to create a feeling of relaxation.

  • Breathwork: Simple breathing exercises help you slow down and focus on the present moment. These might involve deep inhales and exhales or gentle pauses to notice your breath. These sessions are always guided by a trained practitioner so you are in a safe environment.

  • Sound Healing: You might hear instruments like singing bowls, gongs, or soft drums. These sounds can help your mind relax and create a sense of calm. You can choose to keep your eyes open if you are not yet ready to close them, there is no pressure.

  • Gentle Movement: Activities such as slow stretching or guided movement help you connect with your body and release tension. We sometimes encourage attendees to dance to some music, this is not something you have to take part in if you don't feel ready.

  • Group Sharing: Some events include time for participants to share their thoughts or feelings. This is always optional and done in a supportive way.

These experiences aim to help you feel more grounded, calm, and connected to yourself.

How People Usually Feel Afterwards

Many people leave these events feeling what can be described as a euphoric feeling. When your frequency is increased this may cause the body to vibrate on a higher frequency. What this can feel like in the body is happiness, calmness and feeling inspired to share your knowledge with friends or family. The combination of meditation, calming sounds, and essential oils often helps reduce stress and clear the mind.

It’s common to notice a greater awareness of your body and emotions. You might feel more connected to your inner self or more open to positive changes in your daily life.

Even if you don’t feel a dramatic shift, attending can offer a peaceful break from everyday pressures. The supportive environment often leaves people feeling cared for and less alone in their wellness journey.
